Monkey Pox Vaccination covered under Family Responsibility days
The company has agreed to allow members to use a family responsibility (FR) day to receive the Monkey Pox vaccine with the same process as the COVID vaccine. Each employee has three PAID Family Responsibility days and two that are UNPAID in each calendar year.
To qualify for the Family Responsibility Day, you must:
● Request the time off before you get the vaccination
● Get the vaccine during your shift times
● Have proof that you received the vaccination
How to Request a Family Responsibility day:
Airport or CJM
Use the Family Responsibility Form- UNIFOR via the Aeronet to request the day off for Monkey Pox Vaccination. This link to the form will only work if you are already logged into the Aeronet:
Once you have been vaccinated, you are required to send proof you received the vaccination to YULER@aircanada.ca . Don’t delay sending the confirmation as pay could be withheld until the proof of vaccination is received.

PIVOT AIRLINES CREW under house arrest in the Dominican Republic:
Since April 5, Unifor member Bal Krishna Dubey, a part-time electrical mechanic at Pivot Airlines and a member of Unifor Local 2002, along with two flight attendants and two pilots – members of CUPE and ALPA, respectively – have been held in the Dominican Republic, after discovering and reporting suspected drugs on their plane.

Last weekend I was at Aviation Council for Unifor-Canada. It was a great opportunity to meet other Union leaders in the same industries to discuss shared issues and concerns. We had a one-day workshop on what technology changes we are all experiencing and what may come in the future. The use of biometrics is a major concern in airports. To ensure its use is reasonable and secure (and artificial intelligence is a particular concern in Contact Centre where systems listen in on calls to “help” with suggestions for what you may need). The Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers expressed concerns about automation and airports with virtual control towers or virtual flight service weather updates/reports. It was a great opportunity to meet others and discuss concerns across the industry.
